AAPEX Announces 2012 Product and New Packaging Showcase Winners

LAS VEGAS, NEV.  – Oct. 30, 2012 – The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) announced winners of its 2012 Product Showcase and New Packaging Showcase on Oct. 29, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. All product and new packaging entries are on display in Hall D extension of the Sands Expo Center during AAPEX, Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1.

Product Showcase award winners were selected by pre-registered AAPEX buyers. Entries were displayed in 13 categories in the online 2012 AAPEX Product Extra and more than 4,600 votes were cast for products in this year’s showcase, an increase of approximately 28 percent over 2011.

AAPEX Announces Federated “Let it Ride” Sweepstakes Grand Prize

ORLAND PARK, IL – Oct. 24, 2012 – Federated Auto Parts will showcase a Chevy SSR, the grand prize of its “Let it Ride” Sweepstakes, at the upcoming Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. AAPEX Expands Food Offerings in Exhibit Hall

ORLAND PARK, IL – Oct. 22, 2012 The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) is delivering new culinary options to this year's event with the addition of six eateries, styled to look like classic streetside food trucks. AAPEX will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

These new eateries will be featured in three wifi-enabled cafes at AAPEX. A food truck in the Upper Lobby will offer baked goods and desserts. Two trucks in the Hall D extension will serve Gourmet Grilled Cheese and Pulled Pork, and three trucks in the Lobby Level Hall G will offer Asian Noodles, Tacos and Philly CheeseSteaks.

“No conventional food for this convention center as the Great Food Truck race makes a stop at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas for the AAPEX Show,” said Ashlyn LaPorte, executive director of event management for the Sands Expo & Convention Center. “Our new food truck village has plenty of choices; come by and give them a try!”

In addition to the food trucks at AAPEX, a new Café Sands is open in the lower lobby by the new Business Center. The café serves specialty coffees, pastries, salads, parfaits and sandwiches.

New AAPEX Section To Promote Engine Rebuilding, Remanufacturing

ORLAND PARK, IL – Sept. 28, 2012 – A new Remanufacturing Section at AAPEX will highlight the many economic, environmental and product performance benefits of remanufacturing through action-packed engine rebuilds and exhibits by leading remanufacturers and suppliers. AAPEX is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The 8,000 square-foot section is co-hosted by the Motor & Equipment Remanufacturers Association (MERA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) Engine Rebuilders Council (ERC). Exhibit space for the new section is sold out. 

The engine rebuild area, sponsored by the ERC, the AERA Engine Builders Association, the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) and MAHLE Clevite Inc., will feature professional, live engine rebuilding demonstrations by Hendrick Motorsports technicians. Demonstrations will occur twice daily, at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. during the show. Information on the benefits of repowered engines also will be available. 

In addition, MERA will host a press conference on Oct. 29 to announce future plans for Manufactured Again™ – an education and awareness campaign to heighten the understanding and acceptance of remanufacturing.

AAPEX Reports Increase in Voting for Product Showcase Entries

ORLAND PARK, IL – Oct. 17, 2012 The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) reports that approximately 700 more votes have been cast by pre-registered buyers for entries in the 2012 Product Showcase, compared to this time last year. Voting is open until Oct. 24, and the winning entries will be announced during AAPEX, slated for Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

This year marks the second year for AAPEX pre-registered buyers to determine the winning entries in the Product Showcase. In 2011, more than 3,600 votes were cast for products in the showcase.

Entries are presented in 13 categories in the online 2012 AAPEX Product Extra publication. Pre-registered buyers who are eligible to vote have been sent voting instructions and a link to the AAPEX Product Extra publication. When they vote, buyers will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card.

This year’s product categories are: Accessories, Automotive Lighting, Business Tools, Chemical, Lubricant & Filter, Electrical, General Merchandise, Hard Parts, Innovation, Mobile Electronics, Paint, Body and Equipment, Safety, Tires and Wheels, and Tools and Equipment.

In addition to pre-registered buyers, more than 63,000 automotive aftermarket professionals will receive the electronic version of the Product Extra publication. A printed version of the publication will be sent with the October issue of Aftermarket Business and additional copies will be distributed during AAPEX.

AAPEX Learning Forum To Feature Six Sessions on Industry Trends

ORLAND PARK, IL – Sept. 5, 2012 – Six of the 30 sessions in the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) Learning Forum will focus on industry trends to help attendees better position their businesses for the future. Learning Forum sessions are offered at no cost, and will begin Monday, Oct. 29 the day before the official start of AAPEX and run during AAPEX, Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

Industry trend sessions include the “Outlook for Fuel and Raw Material Costs: How It Impacts Everyone in the Aftermarket,” with a focus on how the rising costs of fuel and raw materials are affecting the manufacture and cost of parts. Well-known and respected economist Jason Schenker will share Prestige Economics’ top-rated forecasts and provide insights as to what everyone who makes a living in the aftermarket needs to know about the risks and realities of future commodity and fuel prices.

NPD’s David Portalatin will present the “2013 Aftermarket Outlook” and what to expect in consumer spending on products and services based on the results of NPD’s 2013 Aftermarket Consumer Outlook Survey. Polk’s Mark Seng will present “Five Trends in Five Minutes: Trends Affecting the Aftermarket Environment,” a review of the hottest trends in the vehicle market that are and will be shaping the industry in the short - and long-term.

The popular “Import Parts Explosion: Are You Taking Your Share?” session will help companies focus on how to boost productivity when selling parts for imports. “What’s Happening with U.S. International Trade: Opportunities for the Aftermarket” will cover recent trade agreements (FTAs) and the benefits and issues that arise due to the FTAs. And, “New Brake Rules: What the Aftermarket Needs to Know” will review how state laws in California and Washington will affect the entire supply chain.

Learning Forum sessions will be held at the Venetian Hotel, on the Venetian/Palazzo Congress Center Level 1, Marco Polo Rooms 701-706. NARSA To Hold Annual Convention at AAPEX

ORLAND PARK, IL – Oct. 4, 2012 – The International Heat Transfer Association (NARSA) will gather for its annual convention at Harrah’s Las Vegas during the upcoming Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX). AAPEX will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

“The NARSA theme, ‘Evolution of an Industry,’ continues to define the nature of the evolving business for automotive radiator repair and manufacturing specialists as they continue their transition to diversified thermal management product and service operations,” said Wayne Juchno, NARSA executive director.
           
The theme will be apparent throughout the NARSA Heat Transfer and Mobile AC Pavilion, a fixture at AAPEX since 2004. The Pavilion will feature 72 exhibitors from seven different countries with 14,000 square-feet of products and services for automotive and truck heating, cooling, and air conditioning service and replacement. It will be located on the upper level at the Sands Expo Center,
           
The NARSA convention will include a Board of Directors meeting on Sunday, Oct. 28. It also will feature an annual awards breakfast, the popular cooling system roundtable, one-on-one supplier meetings, committee workshops, business sessions, the Seekins Cup Golf Challenge on Monday, Oct. 29, and the Cooling System Customer Appreciation Reception on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
